Insomnia and other fun things

Fell asleep sometime around 830am and woke up around noon so not too perky today. I have lots of sleep issues and the more I toss and turn the more I start thinking about baking ideas and business ideas and next thing you know the sun is up. But it's memorial day and beautiful outside so I won't bore any of us with any further details on that subject.

Beginning in the middle

I have no idea how to start a blog but I'm doing it anyway. I've thought about it for a while and my sister is egging me on so, why not? I enjoyed writing when I was younger; friends read my stories and said they were really funny and entertaining. I used to do a lot of things when I was younger; draw, paint, ballet and tap dance, play the piano......but as time went on and priorities changed, that all went by the wayside. Then before I knew it, I was 50 and had lost all confidence in those abilities and felt I didn't have a creative bone in my body. Luckily for me, I found my way into the travel industry in the late 70's and spent the next 30 years traveling the world and having amazing adventures. Circumstances have now taken me out of that business and have shown me that I do have creativity after all. It lies in my passion for cooking and baking and, most of all, making a new life for myself doing something I love. Since no one is going to pay me to lounge about on beautiful beaches sipping cocktails, I am going to find a way to make a living selling my baked delights. Notice I did not say TRY to find a way; I've definitely learned that you don't try, you just do.
I didn't start this blog right when I started on this new adventure; I was too busy doing it. Stick with me and I'll catch you up. So, for anyone who wants to learn how to write a blog, share adventures in baking, find out about the inevitable ups and downs of opening a new business, hear some great stories about my travels when I veer off in that direction, can empathize with or relate to someone starting over at 55, or just looking for something a little different to read, come along with me. The worst that can happen is you have some good laughs at my expense and the best is we can explore new avenues of creativity together and have some fun!
